Abstract:With the in-depth development of the knowledge economy and continuous innovation of management concepts, Chinese enterprises are facing more intense international and domestic competition. Innovation has become the driving force for the survival and development of Chinese enterprises. The ability to innovate has increasingly become the core competence of the company's operation and development, and has become an effective means to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Therefore, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to analyze whether listed companies in China's emerging GEM can improve their business performance through innovation and how to achieve favorable status in international competition. This article starts with the innovative performance of listed companies on the GEM, selects 32 listed manufacturing companies in the past five years as the research object, and conducts a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the impact of innovation ability on business performance based on its annual report. The research results show that innovation ability has a positive effect on business performance, and according to the research conclusions, relevant policy recommendations are proposed to indicate the direction for companies to improve performance through innovation.
