Abstract : In this experiment, potted experiment was carried out on the experimental material of Hylococcus vulgaris at the Agricultural Meteorological Experiment Station (N32°05', E118°62') of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. The phenotypic plasticity of Hylococcus vulgaris on scattered radiation was studied. Hylococcus vulgaris seedlings with the same growth were grown in three growth chambers with semi-enclosed light-impermeable compartments (90cm x 90cm x 135cm, length x width x height) and treated with three light direct scattering ratios (20%, 40%, 70%). Four weeks later, through systematically studying the light response curves, fluorescence values, chlorophyll content, leaf anatomy, and color differences of the three groups of Hylococcus vulgaris, the differences in the direct scattering ratio of Hylococcus vulgaris in this period of time were obtained. The results showed that under certain light intensity conditions, the greater the proportion of scattered light, the more favorable the growth of Hylococcus vulgaris. When the scattering ratio increases, the leaf number, plant height, root length, specific leaf weight and other morphological characteristics of Hylococcus vulgaris increased. The higher the net photosynthetic rate Pn, the stomatal derivative Gs, the fluorescence parameter value, the chlorophyll content, the palisade tissue thickness and a series of related parameters also increase with the increase of the scattering ratio; accordingly, the utilization efficiency of the leaf light energy increases. The more the dry matter accumulated, the Hylococcus vulgaris grows stronger. When the light intensity is too large, the net photosynthetic rate and the stomatal derivative are found to have decreased. Therefore, Hylococcus vulgaris is suitable for the environment where the light energy is sufficient and the direct light ratio is low (cloudy weather).
