基于硬件分析的移动终端能耗研究

摘要:随着智能手机的日益发展,手机功能逐渐壮大,人们最关注的要点已然成为了手机的续航能力,减少耗电量已经成为了手机和其他移动设备的一个关键性的设计宗旨。然而,现在的智能手机都有相当多的组成部分,同时给予了用户很大的自由度,可以执行很多无法预先知道的综合程序,仅靠手机厂商减少一些平台层的能耗已经无法满足用户的需求,最终还是需要应用程序开发人员配合,降低应用程序的能耗才行。所以,在这篇论文中,我们提出了一个收集测量数据并建立智能手机的基于硬件设备的能耗模型的方法。我们的目标是能够描绘出设备的子系统的性质,并测量出准确的能耗。我们通过将手机的硬件分割为不同的部分,分别测量其功耗,然后分别做线性回归的方法,来收集测量数据。我们通过大量的测试,最终得出了一个能够反映大部分手机硬件——CPU、屏幕、Wi-Fi、3G网络、GPS——的功耗模型。经过简单验证,此模型基本正确。

Research of Mobile Terminal Power Consumption Based on Hardware Analysis

Abstract: The function of the smart phone has become much stronger these days. Along with the development of it, people are more and more focused on the endurance ability of the battery. Reducing power consumption has become a crucial design tenet for both smart phones and other mobile devices. However, recent mobile smartphone devices have a very rich set of components, give a lot of freedom to users and can handle multiple general purpose programs that are not a-priori known or profiled. Only rely on the smart phone manufacturer to reduce some power consumption of the platform layer cannot solve the problem yet and we need the application developers’ cooperation to reduce the power consumption. So in this paper, we present a general methodology for collecting measurements and modeling power usage on smartphones. Our goal is to describe the characteristic of the sub-systems of the device and to measure the accuracy power consumption. We break up each hardware to an individual part and measured separately to get the data, and use linear regression to get the function. We present a power model which can reflect the power consumption of most hardware of the mobile: CPU, display, Wi-Fi, 3G cellular, GPS. The model is basically correct after verification.
