基于ERP的软件图标隐喻设计认知机制研究

随着用户需求的不断增加和科学技术的发展,隐喻元素越来越常见的出现在界面设计中。隐喻的概念在界面设计领域中,被解读为用户在界面中某元素的启发下,在脑中取表征、进行联想等加工,最终匹配到另一事物的活动。隐喻设计的相关研究已经发展了几十年,但很难真正从本质上分析人类大脑认知加工的存在和影响机制。本研究旨在通过实验方法来探究隐喻设计对用户体验的真实影响,定性定量分析隐喻元素诱导的EEG波形,并分析其对认知处理机制的影响。

本文首先通过假设——验证的研究思路设计了一个脑电实验。实验设置含有正确隐喻和错误隐喻的两组Rhino建模说明书,被试在阅读Rhino建模说明书的过程中,采集被试关于隐喻要素产生的EEG。然后通过EEGLAB软件对EEG进行处理,分析不同刺激下P200、P300和N400三种成分的波形差异,通过绘制脑地形图分析脑区功能网络以及变化趋势,最后通过SPSS方差分析其效应是否显著。

实验结果表明不同刺激下的P200、P300和N400三种成分差异显著,被试阅读错误隐喻时的平均波幅大于阅读正确时的平均波幅,从脑地形图中可以看出被试在阅读正确隐喻时的ERP峰值更低且消退更迅速,表明隐喻设计有效,并且错误的隐喻会更加消耗用户的能量,占用更多资源,更容易使用户疲惫。

本研究的创新性在于,以往的实验中被试的实验材料均相互独立,本次实验材料为被试模拟了一个连续工作的建模环境,更符合隐喻设计的实际应用情况,同时改进了实验方案和实验素材,保证了结果的可靠。

With the increasing demand of users and the development of science and technology, metaphorical elements appear more and more frequently in interface design. In the field of interface design, the concept of metaphor is interpreted as a user, inspired by a certain element in the interface, to take representation, association and other processing in the brain and eventually match the activities of another thing. The research on metaphor design has been developing for decades, but it is difficult to really analyze the existence and influence mechanism of human brain's cognitive processing. The purpose of this study is to explore the true impact of metaphor design on user experience through experimental methods, qualitative and quantitative analysis of the EEG waveform induced by metaphorical elements, and to analyze its influence on cognitive processing mechanism.

In this paper, we first designed an EEG experiment by hypothesis testing. The experiment set up two groups of Rhino modeling instructions with correct metaphors and false metaphors. In the course of reading the Rhino modeling instructions, the subjects collected the EEG that the subjects produced on the metaphorical elements. Then the EEG is processed by EEGLAB software to analyze the difference of the waveform of the N400 components under different stimuli, and to analyze the functional network of the brain and the change trend by drawing the map of the brain. Before the experiment, the following hypothesis is made: if there is no obvious difference between the N400 components produced under the correct metaphorical material and the error metaphorical material, the cognitive processing process is not influenced by the metaphorical design; conversely, if the processing mechanism of the human brain is influenced by the metaphorical design, then the N400 components in the two experimental conditions should be affected. The difference is huge.

The results of the experiment showed that when reading the correct metaphorical material, N400 read the N400 when reading the wrong metaphorical material.

The innovation of this study is that the experimental materials in the previous experiments are not related to each other. The experimental material simulates a continuous working modeling environment, which is more in line with the practical application of metaphorical design, and improves the experimental and experimental materials to ensure the reliability of the results.
