Abstract: Since the adoption of reform and opening-up policy, the external economic and cultural exchanges of our country have become increasingly frequent, especially in cultural aspects. With the introduction of foreign film, movies become a very important part of different countries’ cultural exchanges, the translation of movie titles has become a popular topic in modern life. This thesis expresses the recent situation and subsistent problems on the translation of movie titles. It also introduces some essential methods on the translation of film titles. In the meantime, in comparison of the different methods of English film titles translation between Hong Kong ,Taiwan and China to analyze the influence of history and value orientation for translation.

摘要：改革开放以来，我国经济文化对外交流愈加频繁，尤其体现在文化方面。随着好莱坞电影等外国电影的不断引进，电影已经成为文化交流的重要组成部分，同时，电影片名翻译也成为了当今社会的一个新潮流。本文表述了目前电影片名翻译这一部分的现状以及出现的问题，介绍了电影片名翻译的几种基本方法。同时，对比了香港，台湾，大陆三地在英文电影片名翻译中的差异，通过三地译者的翻译方法和表述形式的对比，来分析三地历史文化背景和价值取向等方面的差异对翻译的影响。

1. Introduction
   1. Background

With the fast step of globalization, people become more and more “close”, and the communications of people from different countries have become more and more frequent and common. Because of the background, movie has become one of the dominant part of culture in modern society, when people from various countries who want to know the diversified cultures of another countries. “Movie, also known as the ‘seventh art’, it can transfer information and express feelings, is a popular form of art , English film title translation has attracted more and more attention. Although the English film title translation is often considered to belong to the cross-cultural communication, it also has its own character. The title of the movie plays a vital role in Chinese translation in a movie's success, how to make a success of English film title, to further promote the development of the film industry, has a very important significance to promote the cultural exchanges between China and the west.” ( 孙希,2016:2 ) However, Movie not only can make people happy but also an important tool of cultural communication. More and more English films will be released in China, and more and more Chinese movies appear in foreigner countries. It makes globalization of culture. Therefore, movie translation has become more and more important, title translation is the most important part. However, there are also many problems in movie titles’ translation. Because we want to change the present situation, a lot of translators spent emotional energy to deal with the problems. Up to this time, a lot of experts from all over the world have done all kinds of research for movie titles’ translation.

Just under such a background, we can learn the skills and principles of the movie titles’ translation and improve the ability of language translation of us. The process of learning is also a process of self-improvement which can enrich our language system and enhance our language technique.
