Abstract: English studying craze can be seen in every corner of China and kids start to get touch with English even when they cannot speak.How can Chinese students master this second language and how can teachers teach it in a better way are always the main concerns. Particularly, Chinese students tend to write their essays under the direction of Chinese thinking mode, which makes their compositions unreadable to native speakers. In order to deal with this problem, it is necessary for us to study the negative transfer of Chinese thinking mode to English compositions and figure out the effective way to overcome it .

摘要:近些年来,全中国几乎每个角落的人们对于英语学习都热情高涨,孩子们甚至在会讲话之前就开始接触英语。因此中国学生如何更好地掌握这门第二语言、中国教师要如何能更好地教授英语就成了至关重要的两个问题。尤其值得注意的是英文写作,中国学生往往习惯于在中式思维指导下进行英文写作,这使得英语国家的人看不懂他们没有语法错误的英文作文。为了解决这一问题,我们需要仔细研究中式思维对于英文写作的负迁移影响,从而找到有效克服负迁移的教学途径。本文首先分析了现今中国学生在英文写作方面存在的中式思维负迁移的具体体现,并尝试寻找其背后的深层思维和文化原因。并在最后从教师教学和学生学习两个方面给出了具体解决办法。

- Introduction
1.1Research Background
Chinese thinking mode is far different from that of English and native speakers often find it hard to understand Chinese’s compositions in English. The author has analyzed 30 English compositions written by Chinese students under a limited time. It turns out that there are several problems in almost every composition. There are 13 students (41%) whose compositions fail to include main points. Other problems are also quite serious, such as insufficient statement and the lack of coherence.
However, most of these students have passed CET6, which means they are English-learners of middle or high level whose compositions are supposed not to embody these problems.The fact is that they not only ignore the negative transfer of Chinese to English composition, but apply the standard of Chinese compositions to English ones. That can explains why Chinese students would organize English composition structures under the direction of Chinese thinking mode.
