In the first place, I would like to give my sincere appreciation and gratitude to my supervisor, Professor Wu Jianlan who has provided plenty of reasonable and valuable guidance and support for me patiently ever since I became a student of her tourist translation course. Owing to her constructive and valuable suggestions, I managed to conquer all the obstacles in writing this thesis.
Besides, my thanks also go to the Professor Liu Jiehai who taught me the course and academic essay writing in college. His precise scientific attitude affects me a lot. This essay would never be possible without Mr. Liu’s systematic analysis of writing approaches.
Finally, I am particularly grateful to my friends who provided a lot of practical writing skills for me. In addition, they assisted me to search for materials I need and helped me correct my thesis. Finally, my thanks go to my dear parents for their support all the time.

Abstract: Doris Lessing, a distinguished female writer, created The Golden Notebook (1962) which describes spiritual outlook and political ideology of Britain of the nineteen-fifties with unique writing strategies. The author pays much attention to psychological description of protagonist Anna and the book narrates the whole process of Anna from schizophrenia to self-atonement. On the one hand, the thesis reveals deeply the inner world of heroine Anna under theories of Jungian Analytic Psychology as well as the reason why she suffers schizophrenia, which provide materials for those who focus on studying the psychoanalysis; on the other hand, the thesis analyses whether the translation about the individuation of Anna in the version by Chen Caiyu accords with this role in the original, offering some suggestions in detail description and emotional treatments.

1. Introduction
The thesis analyzes the translation based on the version of Chen Caiyu about the individuation of protagonist Anna under some theories of Jungian analytic psychology, focusing on the schizophrenia and self-atonement of Anna (Song, 2009: 28).
My thesis is segmented into five parts. The first part is an introduction which is divided into three contents: the author Doris Lessing, a profound impact of Jungian analytic psychology and the worldwide research on The Golden Notebook. The second part is the significance of the writing, presenting simply the main idea of the whole thesis. The third part elaborates thoroughly theories of anima, animus and persona in the Jungian analytic psychology to analyze the individuation of protagonist Anna. I will pay much attention to study the process from schizophrenia to self-atonement, revealing reasons of psychological change of Anna. The fourth part illustrates the personal translation about the individuation of Anna. I cite some sentences which describe the appearance of Anna in the original text to compare with the translation in the version of Chen Caiyu with some translation skills and theories.
The last part is the conclusion of my thesis. For one thing, I have dissected the individuation of Anna and have explained why she suffered the mental anguish; for the other, I list advantages and disadvantages of the translation about the individuation of Anna via comparing the original with the version. My thesis analyzes roughly the translation about the individuation of protagonist Anna under some theories of Jungian analytic psychology, leaving relevant materials for psychological and translation studies.
